Gum diseases are harmful infections that cause inflammation of the gums that progress to affect the bone that surrounds it and supports the teeth. These diseases are also known as periodontal diseases and are caused due to bacterial growth in the mouth. Gum infections are a result of poor oral hygiene over a long period of time, which allows bacteria to grow and get lodged between the gums and the teeth. Other than poor oral hygiene, other factors that lead to gum diseases are – smoking, chewing tobacco, misaligned teeth, hormonal changes, diabetes, etc. Some symptoms of the disease are – bleeding of the gums, teeth loosening, teeth sensitivity, swollen gums, bad breath, etc. Gum diseases are the most common type of oral disease.<\/span><\/p>\n
